Endometriosis is difficult to recognise and diagnose because people experience a wide range of symptoms that present with various configurations, plus symptoms can also be similar to many other conditions.  

Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis (pronounced ad – uh – no – my – o – sis) is when the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) grows into the muscle tissue of the uterus. It is just as common as endometriosis, affecting 1 in 9 born with internal reproductive organs, although there is also little research so it could affect more people than realised.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition that affects, at least, 1 in 10 people assigned female at birth. It is a hormonal condition characterised by high levels of testosterone and insulin, cysts in the ovaries, irregular or no periods.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic condition that affects the large intestine. IBS does not cause changes in bowel tissue and can often be controlled by managing diet, lifestyle, and stress which can all contribute to 'flares' of symptoms.

Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

Interstitial Cystitis (pronounced in-tur-stish-ul sis-tie-tis) is a chronic condition characterised by bladder pressure, bladder pain, and sometimes pelvic pain from mild discomfort to severe.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition in which people experience widespread chronic pain and tenderness in the body, often accompanied by ongoing fatigue and cognitive and memory problems.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a chronic condition characterised by ongoing exhaustion. It's also know as ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy), Tapanui or Yuppie Flu.
